This is a reminder regarding the need for all physicians/PAs who order durable medical equipment, prosthetic, orthotic and supplies (DMEPOS) be registered in PECOS. Although we now have until January 2011 to get the individual physicians and PAs in PECOS, it takes some time to complete the 855I and 885R applications.
If you have not already done so, we highly recommend downloading the PECOS file from the CMS website to verify the physicians and PAs are in the file. There are many physicians/extenders that have the same name, so we are reminding everyone to verify the NPI is correct for your physicians/PAs. As previously stated, the practice needs to complete and send both an 855I and 855R for each physician/PA not included in this listing.
